3. Qiyam (standing) It is 'rukn' while reciting 'Takbiratul-Ihram' and before going to 'ruku': and is wajib (but not rukn) at the time of reciting Surahs or Tasbihat Arba'ah. In qiyam, it is wajib that: (a) The musalli (person praying) should stand erect and facing qibla; (b) He should be motionless (tama'ninat).
First, let us define what Qiyam prayer is. Qiyam means standing up or establishing. Perhaps you mean night prayer, which is before dawn at night and is Mustahab (recommended but not obligatory). The time for Salatul Layl begins after midnight until the time for Fajr (morning) prayers. The best time for it is as close to the Fajr prayer as possible.
The term 'Qiyam-ul-layl', in the most literal sense, means to 'stand during the night'. It is a voluntary prayer which is offered between the time of Ishaa prayer and the Fajr prayer (before dawn). But the most preferred time is before sunrise, in the last third of the night.
Qiyam and Tahajjud Prayers are the same prayer with different names. Tahajjud and Qiyam are the same thing, namely optional night prayer.. However, the only difference appears when these two names are used during Ramadan. The prayer after Isha Prayer is referred to as Qiyam (or, more commonly, Tarawih), while spending the night in worship (after some sleep) is called Tahajjud.
